Father's Day: Our pick of champagnes for the best present

Jun 3, 2021 • 4 mins

On the third Sunday of June, it will be Father's Day, as it is every year. And it's fast approaching! Find yourself stuck for gift ideas?

Two scenarios:
>You're a dad who is sick of receiving ugly ties or boring pairs of socks ... Share this article with your kids then they might take the hint!
>You're looking for a gift for grandad: You've come to the right place!
What better way to get this party started than with Champagne? (And yes, you’re chez Grappers, what else would you expect?!)

For the rock fan dad

AC/DC, Rolling Stones or even Metallica: for the “Rock Dad” you’ll need a champagne that, well, rocks! And for this, you’ll need the power of the Pinot Noir…

Champagne Mailly Grand Cru - Brut Réserve
This is the House "classic", a champagne that struts its stuff, with a powerful expression of this grand cru terroir in which the 75% Pinot Noir plays the lead. An exceptional champagne at a very affordable price.
Price: approximately 32€

For the cool dad

Chill man, for this “Daddy Cool”, no problem! He’ll find nirvana in every sip of this rosé champagne.

Champagne Henriot - Brut Rosé
This is a gorgeous and charming rosé that shows both power and freshness. The House style is becoming gradually more assertive with a well-defined character yet it still preserves that hint of salinity and lovely freshness. We find depth and density with a juicy fruitiness interwoven with softer notes of violets and roses against a well-honed and refreshing backdrop.
Price: approximately 52€

For the organic dad

Organic is good, that's “Organic Dad’s” motto. He is bound to appreciate this wine paired with a mushroom risotto (organic of course!).

Champagne De Sousa – Cuvée des Caudalies Blanc de Blancs Extra Brut
The more time passes, the more it seems to us that the wines from this Champagne House acquire salinity and contrast within their well-honed style. But that's without taking into account the big, generous nature of the Grands Crus and the 50% reserve wines that go into the blend or the vinification in barrel. This champagne shows both freshness and well-managed vinosity. High art indeed.
Price: approximately 50€
