The very idea of a champagne cocktail seems daring and bold; indeed, mixing a drink like champagne with others sounds almost sacrilegious... but aren't rules meant to be broken?

Read on to find out how you can wow your guests with some hip and original beverages...

First of all, to make a good champagne cocktail, keep it simple: go for a blended Brut or Blanc de Blancs, with a Brut or Extra-Brut dosage, to balance out the sugar you are going to add.

And above all, don't forget the shaker and strainer! These two accessories that might, at first, seem of little importance, are in fact the key to making the perfect cocktail.

The cocktail from our region

To begin with, how could we not choose the ‘champagne soup? I’m suggesting you jazz it up with some raspberries.

For 8 people, you will need:

  • 1 bottle champagne
  • 2 limes
  • 11 cl Cointreau
  • 21 cl cane sugar syrup
  • Optional: raspberries!

Steps :

1. Ensure your glasses are cold.

2. Pour the Cointreau, limes and syrup (and if you wish, raspberries) into a container

3. Leave to macerate in the fridge overnight

4. The next day, add the champagne just before serving with ice cubes

Enjoy this refreshing sweet cocktail with friends out on the patio on summer evenings.

The refreshing cocktail

Champagne - Grapefruit - Angostura

What could be more refreshing on a hot day than a grapefruit-based beverage? Surprise your friends with this perfect balance of sugar, acidity and bitterness.

For 8 people you will need:

  • 1 bottle champagne (well chilled)
  •  The juice of 2 pink grapefruits
  •  4 tablespoons of Angostura bitters
  •  Ice cubes

Steps :

1. Ensure your glasses are cold

2. Squeeze the juice of the 2 pink grapefruits into a shaker, making sure to extract the pulp from the juice. It's time to use that strainer!

3. Add the spoonfuls of Angostura and shake! Pour into your glasses

4. Finally add the chilled champagne. Garnish to your taste (we suggest a little cluster of redcurrants or a slice of lime)

The relaxing cocktail

A royal Mojito!

Everyone (or almost everyone) has already sipped on the famous mojito. Why not give it a champagne twist? Always best enjoyed by the swimming pool...

For each glass you will need:

  • 7 cl Cuban rum
  • 1 lime
  • 3cl cane sugar syrup
  • 15 cl champagne
  • 5 mint leaves
  • 2 heaped tablespoons of crushed ice

Steps :

1. Ensure your glasses are cold

2. Rinse the mint and pop it in the glass. Next, squeeze the lemon juice into the glass, cut the lemon into wedges and place them in a shaker. Shake the ingredients together vigorously (but leave the champagne well alone!)

3. Finally, pour in the champagne and gently stir (to preserve the bubbles as much as possible) just before serving

The lovers' cocktail

Champagne - lime – passion fruit

Looking forward to enjoying a special moment with your loved one? To delight your beloved, simply offer him/her a glass of this delicious nectar:

For 2 glasses you will need:

  • 18 cl chilled champagne
  • 1 passion fruit
  • 1 lime
  • 4 cl gin
  • 4 cl cane sugar syrup
  • Ice cubes

Steps :

1. Ensure your glasses are cold

2. Cut the passion fruit in half. Divide the pulp from each half into the two glasses; squeeze a slice of lemon into each glass

3. Add the syrup and gin and mix together (with a spoon not in a shaker). Then carefully pour in the champagne, and finally add the ice cubes, another slice of lemon and serve immediately

Get your romantic evening off to a good start!
