Veuve Fourny: 2 champagnes for the year end
A few months ago, we went to meet two brothers: Emmanuel and Charles-Henry Fourny. We have been keeping a close eye on the Veuve Fourny Champagne House’s development and new products and we are super excited to tell you about their two new Extra-Brut Premier Cru champagnes:
Rosé Vinothèque MV 15
Champagne Lovers, watch out for this new Rosé "Vinothèque" MV 15 champagne from Veuve Fourny! This rosé champagne, primarily from the 2015 vintage, is complemented by a selection of Reserve wines (MV: Multi Vintages) conserved in small oak vats.
The nose discloses aromas of blood orange and is followed by a palate that reveals notes of ripe citrus fruit over an elegant, energetic yet creamy texture, and is concluded by a delicate finish.
This champagne is crafted from Chardonnay and Pinot Noir grapes originating mainly from Vertus, a prestigious Premier Cru terroir, along with a few other Premiers Crus. It will pair brilliantly with sweet, refined dishes, such as a rhubarb and strawberry crumble.
Monts de Vertus 2013
"Monts de Vertus" 2013 Premier Cru is the perfect champagne to mark any occasion in style and comes in a magnum to boot!
This 100% Chardonnay from 50+-year-old vineyards located mid-slope in some exposed chalk soil, shows great cellar-ageing potential and has a very pure, mineral and saline style. Originating mainly from the Vertus Premier Cru, from vines growing in chalky soil, this Chardonnay shows a mature and exotic character that sets off the delicious fruit, which really flatters this late vintage.
Best enjoyed with saline dishes such as seafood, shellfish and raw fish (smoked salmon), this champagne is perfect for festive occasions and unforgettable moments!
