Smartbottle, an augmented reality app for wine and spirits professionals and consumers, was created by a Bordeaux WineTech startup.

An immersive phygital experience

The app turns a wine label into an interactive experience. The idea is simple, users scan the wine label with their smartphones and are instantly immersed in the 3D world of the wine domaine and its wines.

The bottle therefore becomes an interactive medium allowing producers to display whatever digital content they wish including videos, photos, tasting comments, medals and awards, etc...

"Creating a direct link with the consumer and evoking positive emotions"

The Penet Champagne House, a pioneer in the Champagne region

Penet is one of the few Champagne Houses to have created an augmented reality experience. This is a technological revolution for the family-owned domaine (and the Champagne region in general) allowing it to provide a fun digital experience accessible to all. Consumers can now enjoy exploring the Champagne House's heritage, history and know-how in a very original manner.

Alexandre Penet and his wife Martine own the domaine located in Verzy, in the Grand Cru vineyards where the family has worked the vines since the 17th century. The grape varieties planted are split between Pinot Noir (2/3) and Chardonnay (1/3). The Penet Champagne House boasts ancestral expertise in the crafting of authentic champagnes with a strong character that make for an extraordinary drinking experience.

For the curious among you, the video of the 3D experience can be viewed here, a first of its kind in the Champagne world!

NB: Smartbottle is free and can be used anywhere, even offline.
