As this new year begins, we feel the need, more than ever, to escape the monotony of our daily routines by treating ourselves to the odd luxury! And what better way to do it than with a good bottle of champagne? Don’t be fooled though, as a “good bottle of champagne” does not have to break the bank. Here is our non-exhaustive selection of exceptional champagnes that can be yours for under 25€.

2013 Vintage Champagne from Bertrand-Lapie for 20€

This delectable champagne is lovingly-crafted by the expert hands of two dedicated producers in La Chaussée-sur-Marne in the south-east of the Marne. This domaine, which has less than 3 hectares of vines and is HVE (high environmental value) and VDC (sustainable viticulture in Champagne) certified, produces a complex Vintage Blanc de Blanc that is aged for 6 months in oak barrels. The winemakers take pride in the creative process and believe that “every detail counts when it comes to producing an exceptional wine”.

Champagne Grande Réserve from Vincent Bennezon for 23€

Our journey through Champagne continues over in the north-west of the Marne with Domaine Vincent Bennezon in Courville. This HVE (high environmental value) and VDC (sustainable viticulture in Champagne) certified wine domaine is spread across the different hillsides of the Ardre Valley and Marne Valley. Their Grande Réserve, which is composed of 50% Chardonnay and 50% Pinot Noir, is partially vinified in oak and acacia wood barrels. This prestige champagne is the ultimate in elegance and deliciousness.

The 2015 Vintage from Yveline Prat for 22€

Produced in Vert-Toulon, 30 kilometers south of Epernay, this 2015 vintage from Champagne Yveline Prat caught our eye. Made from equal proportions of Chardonnay and Pinot Noir and brought out just a year ago, this wine has recently been released from the cellars and is sure to wow your tastebuds. It is the ideal choice for an aperitif and its lively structure makes it perfect for all drinking occasions.

2012 Vintage Champagne from Jean Moutardier for 24€

Our last stop is in the far east of the Marne (Le Breuil) where several outstanding Meunier- dominant creations are born. Champagne Jean Moutardier is now run by two brothers, Simon and William, who take pride in preserving the domaine’s identity whilst combining a forward-thinking approach with eco-friendly practices. The 2012 Vintage, which is crafted from a blend of 80% Pinot Meunier and 20% Chardonnay, throws the spotlight on the Surmelin Valley where these Meunier vines grow.

We all love a bit of luxury and so we have compiled an extra list with a few more outstanding champagnes that certainly deserve to be tasted…
